To find one word to describe the author would be difficult. Kenny is a family man, a farmer, rancher, cowboy, golfer, Harley enthusiast, and the list could go on... He has spent a thirty year career working for Ford Motor Company as well, and has since retired.. He puts it this way " I feel that I am a very fortunate person, as a friend told me the other day, You work when you want too and you play when you want too, how does one improve on that"... Kenny has spent a lifetime building the farm into what it is today, and to him, work usually comes first, BUT, when the dew is on and the hay not ready to bale,, it sure doesn't hurt to squeeze in a round of golf, and most of the locals can verify that he is one of the first to tee-off of an early morning, then later in the day after the hay is baled or beans planted or whatever it may be,, an evening ride on the Harley can be mighty relaxing, as well as cool you down abit... Sometimes, an evening ride can last for a couple of hours and into the darkness of night... Everyone needs an escape from work or stress relief of some kind...
To the left: Kenny and grandaughter Ashton hit the woods after the first big snow of the year.. Nothing better to keep you young at heart than playing in deep fresh snow in the woods, wet snow makes for good snowball fights... Life is too short to stay on the inside, looking out...
ABOVE.. Kenny is a firm believer in some of the old ways of farming, despite high fuel prices. He moldboard plows his terraces every other year. Nothing smells quite like fresh turned soil.
To the RIGHT: After the crops are planted and the hay is put up, a trip to the mountains is mighty refreshing...
DAYS OF HARVEST: You till the soil and plant the seed and keep it free of weeds, but in this area, only mother nature can bring a bountiful harvest.
A slight glimpse into the personal life of the Author. kdunk983@aol.com
To the left:
HIDDEN OASIS: Brush Cave, a place only a handful of people have ever seen.. Completely guarded from the sunlight, a cool clear spring feeds from under the earth, the temperature can be a good ten degrees cooler on a hot summer day in here.
TO THE LEFT:
A FEW YEARS BACK.
Kenny has had a soft heart for animals since the very beginning. A fine looking young fella wouldn't ya say? Buster Brown clothes and shoes I'd say as well...
TO THE LEFT: One of Kenny's favorite spots of his lifetime, high in the Rocky Mountains, stashed away in the Mount Zierkle Wilderness. A lake as pristinely grand today as it was the first time he saw it back in the mid 60's. No,, you can't drive to it, and you better pack a pup tent and sleeping bag, but the scenery and the cut throat trout are worth the four hour trek.
BELOW: Feeding cattle in the wintertime is just one of the many chores to keep a person busy and out of trouble, you can tell by the clouds in the background that possibly more snow on the horizon...
To the left:Spring is here. my two boys came out for spring cleaning and a ride. Yep,, my favorite colors for a Harley is black and chrome, lots of chrome...
To the right: Looking out the front door at 6:00 AM. The moon has yet to set, a slight breeze moving the flags, a good cup of coffee setting on the porch.
To the left: More signs of spring as the grass turns from it's winter dormancy (dead brown) to a lush green and baby calves litter the landscape...
Right: A newborn, full of energy and a belly full of momma's milk...
Above: A man doesn't wish for twin calves, but when it happens and the mothers take good care of them, it makes a man pretty proud of them. Good job girls!
Left: Somewhere under the blue skies of Wyoming. The way to travel, the sun on your back, the wind in your face, a destination with no time barrier, you get there when you get there, enjoy the journey...
Spring has arrived again,, time to plant the seed in fertile ground, then wait for mother nature to do the rest...
To the left: Future farmers of this family? Grandaughter Ashton is already well on her way! And Makenzie is getting her start at doing chores
Four pics above: A snow day! Time for play... I'm a firm believer that you don't stop playing because you get old, you get old because you stop playing.. I plan to stay young for a long time!!!
